RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Helen C. Doria has gone to her eternal reward at the age of sixty-one; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of the Rogers Park neighborhood, Helen C. Doria was a dedicated public servant; and
 
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Helen C. Doria was raised on the Southwest Side and graduated from Mundelein College; and
 
WHEREAS, The daughter of Marie and the late Joseph, Helen C. Doria was the dear sister of Joseph, III, James, Rose, Lawrence, Carol, Maria and John; and
 
WHEREAS, Helen C. Doria worked for much of her career with the Chicago Park District and the City's Department of Special Events; and
 
WHEREAS, Helen C. Doria was the first Executive Director of Millennium Park and a force for culture and the performing arts in Chicago; and
 
WHEREAS, In 2008 Helen C. Doria founded Helen Doria Consulting, a company which served corporate clients and artistic organizations; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Helen C. Doria serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Helen C. Doria imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of January, 2013, do hereby commemorate Helen C. Doria for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Helen C. Doria.
