Resolution declaring October 26,2013 as "M"A"N Up Against Bullying Day" in Chicago
WHEREAS, National Bullying Prevention Month is a campaign in the United States that is held during the month of October and unites communities nationwide to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention; and
WHEREAS, the organization know as ONcE in M "A" Nhood has been an inspiration and strong supporter for the fight against bullying of the children and young adults of Chicago through their M "A" N UP Against Bullying Tour and the Fight Against Bullying in Chicago Schools; and
WHEREAS, It is the goal of the Chicago Board of Education to create a learning environment in all school communities where students are protected from bullying so they feel safe and supported in their efforts to succeed academically and develop emotionally into responsible, caring individuals; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago Board of Education asks every Chicago Public School student, with the support of parents, guardians, and the adults at the school, to commit to principals they not to bully others, to help anyone being bullied, to include students who are left out and to tell an adult at home if someone is being bullied; and
WHEREAS, ONcE in M"A"Nhood has exemplified the anti-bullying wishes of Chicago Public Schools by reaching out to students, showing youth how to appropriately reduce the negative effects of bullying by being a pillar of strength, sound judgment and reason; and has put the wellbeing of others before their own, being a true example of unity and love and being a credit to schools, universities, churches, non-profits organizations and the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Joseph A. Moore, Alderman of the 49th Ward and ONcE in M"A"Nhood, will hold the Chicago Anti-Bullying Rally at Gale Math and Science Academy at 1631 West Jonquil Terrace on Saturday, October 26,h 2013; and
