WHEREAS, Mrs. Michele "Shelly" Perez's outstanding sen/ice to the Gold Star Families tor over two and a half years; and,
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Mrs. Michele "Shelly" Perez's distinguished work by the Honorable Silvana Tabares, Alderman of the 23rd Ward and the Honorable Raymond A. Lopez, Alderman of the 15th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Michele "Shelly" Perez is the widower of the fallen Chicago Police Officer Benjamin Perez (End of Watch, September 18, 2002) and a wonderful mother of three amazing children, Katarina, Benjamin and Rebecca Perez;and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Perez held the position of Chairwonrian of the Gold Star Families for over two and a half years and as of January 14, 2022, Mrs. Perez has stepped down to pursue other opportunities; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Perez has provided services to the families of Police Officers killed in the line of duty. Mrs. Perez has provided emotional support to the families left behind and has worked In collaboration with the Chicago Memorial Police foundation so no fallen police officer is ever forgotten; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs, Perez has been committed, dedicated and always showed compassion to the Gold Star Families; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-sixth day of January, 2022 do hereby congratulate Mrs. Shelly Perez on two and a half years of outstanding service and commitment to the Gold Star Families; and,
