MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING CLAUDINE VEATRICE DAVIS
WHEREAS, In His infinite wisdom. God has called His good and faithful servant, Claudine Veatrice Davis to her eternal reward on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, 2013; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Anthony A. Beale, Alderman of the 9th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Claudine Veatrice Davis was born on March 27,1950 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Dr. A. Edward Davis, Sr. and Mrs. Vianna Fenter Davis, the eldest child of six born to this union; and
WHEREAS, Claudine Veatrice Davis was a graduate ofthe Class of 1968 of Morgan Park High School, and a 1972 graduate of Chicago State College (University) attaining a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Education and where her outstanding scholarship was recognized as a member of the Dean's List, the Chicago State College Choir and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Claudine Veatrice Davis dedicated her professional life to the education and development of all children as a teacher in the Chicago Public School system for 27 years; and
WHEREAS, Claudine Veatrice Davis was a vital and active member of her family and community. A cherished friend and good neighbor to all, Claudine Veatrice Davis will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; and
WHEREAS, Claudine Veatrice Davis leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory two sons: Claude and Aaron; five siblings, Dr. A. Edward Davis, Jr. (Ethelyn); Karen Davis Wilburn (David); Dr. Carlton F. Davis (Serrita); Dr. Patricia Davis Kennedy (William); Opal "Doobee" Davis Dawson (Greg) of Louisville, KY; Aunt Ethel Brown and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding Claudine in death were her parents: Dr. A. Edward Davis, Sr. and Vianna Fenter Davis; and her grandmothers: Claudine Beatrice Hentz and Betty Beatrice Slider.
