CONGRATULATING DOLORES QUIROZ ON HER 100th BIRTHDAY
WHEREAS, On February 3, 2013, Dolores Quiroz, an outstanding citizen and member of her community, joined this city's bourgeoning ranks of centenarians; and
WHEREAS, Dolores Quiroz was brought into this world on February 3, 1913 in Barstow, California as the daughter of Tomas and Maria Arambula. At the age of 12, Quiroz's family relocated to Nuevo Laredo, in Tamaulipas, Mexico where she completed her studies and achieved a teaching certificate. She began her career at Hidalgo Elementary School where she taught for 12 year; and
WHEREAS, On February 1, 1948 Dolores was united in Holy Matrimony to Rafael A. Quiroz and to this blessed union four children were born; George, Virginia. Dolores, and Mirey; and.
WHEREAS, Dolores Quiroz was employed by the Ferrera Pan Candy Company where she worked diligently for more than three decades before suffering a stroke and was forced to retire. Now, Dolores enjoys spending her time with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren as well as drinking green tea and watching the news; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jason C. Ervin, Alderman of the 28th Ward, has apprised this august body of this remarkable woman's auspicious milestone; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 14th Day of March, 2012 AD, do hereby congratulate Dolores Quiroz on her centennial birthday and extend our very best wishes for many more birthdays to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Dolores Quiroz.
