RESOLUTION

 

 

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Russell Hartigan has been officially installed as the 141st President of the Illinois State Bar Association; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, A native of the Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side, the Honorable Russell Hartigan is an arbitrator and mediator who previously served 33 years as a litigator and for more than six years as a Cook County Circuit Judge; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Russell Hartigan's long history of involvement with the Illinois State Bar Association began in 1979, a few years after graduating from John Marshall Law School; and

 

WHEREAS, Over the decades, the Honorable Russell Hartigan has ably served in a number of leadership positions, including terms on the association's Assembly, Board of Governors, Secretary and Treasurer; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Russell Hartigan has never lost site of the fact that the ISBA's membership includes many small law firms and solo practitioners; and

 

WHEREAS, As President, the Honorable Russell Hartigan plans to help smaller firms by launching a web-based law office management portal called PracticeHQ which will assist with management, technology, whitepapers, training videos and product comparisons; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work,, vision and dedication of the Honorable Russell Hartigan serve as an example to all; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-sixth day of July, 2017, do hereby congratulate the Honorable Russell Hartigan on his new role as President of the"Illinois State Bar Association; and

presented to the Honor;
