CONSENT CALENDAR
RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF EXEMPLARY PUBLIC SERVICE
WHEREAS, on the 20th of May 2019, the 40th Ward Office transitioned to a new Alderperson and team, for the first time in 36 years, and
WHEREAS, Geoffrey Cubbage served the City of Chicago and the 40th Ward as Alderperson Andre Vasquez's Director of Policy and Development, and .
WHEREAS, Geoffrey helped to build accountable processes, bring open government, and deliver services to the 55,000 neighbors ofthe 40th Ward, and
WHEREAS, Geoffrey Cubbage drafted the Gender Identity in City Documents Ordinance, the Modernization of 311 Council Order, and helped in passing the Empowering Communities for Public Safety Ordinance, and
WHEREAS, Geoffrey introduced the 40th Ward to Community Driven Zoning and the most democratic zoning process in the City of Chicago, and
WHEREAS, Geoffrey Cubbage helped guide the creation of the Ainslie Arts Plaza, and a $16 Million Streetscape along Lincoln to create the Lincoln Avenue North Arts District, and
WHEREAS, beginning in 2020, the City of Chicago faced an unprecedented crisis in the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, the suspension of many normal civil services, in conjunction with the requirements ofthe pandemic, created an urgent need for creative new support service networks and services,
WHEREAS, under Geoffrey's leadership, the 40th Ward delivered first Independent Budget Ordinance to be drafted by a City Council in 30 years in response to the fiscal challenge faced by the city during a global pandemic, and
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago, Alderman Andre Vasquez, the 40th Ward office, and the residents of our community are indebted to Geoffrey Cubbage for his three years of diligent and excellent community-focused public service
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the City Council ofthe City of Chicago, assembled here on this 15th day of December, 2021, do applaud, honor, and commend Geoffrey Cubbage for his service and wish him well in all of his future endeavors.
