RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Northside College Preparatory High School, commonly called Northside College Prep, was founded in 1999 to provide Chicago high school students with an excellent, college-focused education; and

 

WHEREAS, the school and its faculty and staff have consistently provided quality education, and Northside College Prep is frequently ranked as one ofthe top high schools in the state and in the nation; and

 

WHEREAS, Kelly Mest taught at Northside College Prep as a founding member of the faculty in 1999, and served as chair of its English department from 2001 to 2004, and most recently has served as the principal of Northside College Prep since 2013; and

 

WHEREAS, Principal Mest now departs Northside College Prep to serve as Deputy Chief of Network 14; and

 

WHEREAS, during her tenure, Principal Mest oversaw countless achievements and improvements at Northside College Prep, including but in no way limited to the renovation ofthe library space, the establishment ofthe Freshman Academy, the N: Vision Competency Based/Experiential learning program, and consistently top ratings on the School Quality Rating Policy (SQRP); and

 

WHEREAS, for her steadfast leadership and dedicated service Principal Mest deserves the congratulations of the City and its public school system; now therefore:

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the City Council ofthe City of Chicago, assembled here on this 26th day of May, 2021, do hereby thank Principal Mest for her work at Northside College Prep, and wish her well in her continuing service with the Chicago Public School System; and
