WHEREAS, A Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Saturday, February 25, 2017, to mark the retirement of the Reverend Raymond F. Klees from active ministry; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his retirement by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Raised in the West Beverly community, the Reverend Raymond F. Klees was born to Raymond J. and Celeste R. Klees, nee Dunning; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Raymond F. Klees was ordained May 9, 1973 by John Cardinal Cody; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Raymond F. Klees served in a number of important roles throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago, including as Pastor of St. Cletus Parish in La Grange from 1992 to 2006 and as the Assistant to the Superintendent of the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls in Chicago from 1985 to 1992; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Raymond F. Klees later served as Executive Vice President of Notre Dame College Prep; and
WHEREAS, For thirty years the Reverend Raymond F. Klees was the Chaplain of the University of Norte Dame Club of Chicago and currently serves as a longtime Trustee of the Notre Dame Club of Chicago Scholarship Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Since 2012 the Reverend Raymond F. Klees has been the Associate Pastor of St. Mary of the Woods Parish in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his ministry, the Reverend Raymond F. Klees has provided hope, comfort and spiritual direction to countless individuals and families; and
WHEREAS, The holiness, sacrifice and dedication of the Reverend Raymond F. Klees serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, The celebration of the Mass will be held at Holy Family Church, 1080 Roosevelt Road in Chicago; now, therefore

RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-second day of February, 2017, do hereby express our gratitude and respect to the Reverend Raymond F. Klees on the occasion of his retirement; and
