RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, the City of Chicago is committed to certain policies of transparency, competitive contracting, and providing equal contracting opportunities for the citizens of Chicago; and,

WHEREAS, the O'Hare Modernization Program is one ofthe largest construction projects in the country originally budgeted at over $6.6 Billion at one of the world's busiest airports; and,

WHERAS, the O'Hare Modernization Program has as one of its goals and purposes of improving on time performance and increasing safety and efficiency by, among other things, the construction of a de-icing facility; and,

WHEREAS, the O'Hare Modernization Program keeps the City of Chicago's businesses climate thriving, residents working and strengthens our economy growing by further advancing the City's diversity goals by providing contracting opportunities for City residents and MBE/WBE contractors; therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled here this 28th day of June, 2017, call for a hearing of the City Council's Committees on Aviation to review the status and progress of the O'Hare Modernization Program and its accompanying contracts and Multi-Project Labor Agreement to ensure full and total compliance; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Department of Aviation and the Department of Procurement Services be available to offer their testimony as to the efficacy of the O'Hare Modernization Program Commissioner and its Multi-Project Labor Agreement; and.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chicago Procurement Services Department and Aviation Department be called upon to research the historical application ofthe MPLA in general and in the context ofthe O'Hare Modernization Program subcontracting and MBE/WBE utilization.
