RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, RoseMarie Lipinski has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 83; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, RoseMarie is survived by her husband, the Honorable William 0. Lipinski, her children, Laura Lipinski (Jim Broeking) and the Honorable Daniel (Judy) Lipinski, grandchildren, other family and friends; and
WHEREAS, RoseMarie attended and graduated from St. Xavier University and received her Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center; and
WHEREAS, In 1960, RoseMarie met her future husband, the Honorable William 0. Lipinski while working as physical instructors at the Chicago Park District and they married in 1962; and
WHEREAS, They purchased their first home on 59th Street in the heart ofthe Southwest Side where they raised their children; and
WHEREAS, RoseMarie was also a strong advocate for education and taught pre-school for many years; and
WHEREAS, After her husband was appointed Democratic 23rd Ward Committeeman in 1975 by Mayor Richard J. Daley, RoseMarie helped him knock on doors and distribute literature for his first successful aldermanic election; and
WHEREAS, In 1982, with RoseMarie's assistance her husband challenged incumbent Democrat John G. Fary in the primary and won Illinois' 5th congressional district; and
WHEREAS, She served as a Delegate to Democratic National Convention from Illinois in 1996 and 2004 and was a Presidential Elector for Illinois in 1996 and 2000; and
WHEREAS, RoseMarie served as a judge on the Illinois Court of Claims; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, RoseMarie Lipinski imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of July, 2021, do hereby commemorate RoseMarie Lipinski for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and...
