RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Chicago business and civic leader Richard Driehaus will celebrate the joyful occasion of his 75th Birthday on July 27, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus is the Founder, Chief Investment Officer and Chairman of Chicago-based Driehaus Capital Management LLC; and
WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus attended St. Ignatius College Prep and received his undergraduate and master's degrees in business from DePaul University; and
WHEREAS, Following graduation, Richard Driehaus gained a wealth of experience working for a number of firms, including Rothschild 8& Company, A.G. Becker & Company, Mullaney 85 Wells & Company and Jessup 85 Lamont before going into business for himself and becoming a leader in the investment industry; and
WHEREAS, A widely admired philanthropist, Richard Driehaus established the Richard Driehaus Prize for Classical Architecture in 2003 which is presented annually by the University of Notre Dame; and
WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus is a recipient of the 2015 American Institute of Architects Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to architecture in Chicago and worldwide; and
WHEREAS, A preservationist, Richard Driehaus restored the 19th century gilded mansion of banker Samuel Mayo Nickerson and in 2003 opened the Richard H. Driehaus Museum to the public as his "gift to the City"; and
WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus has donated to many other worthy causes, including Lisa Nigro's Inspiration Cafe in Uptown, a nonprofit that assists 3,000 people annually by providing food, housing and other services; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, generosity and dedication of Richard Driehaus serve as an example to all; now, therefore
