RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Robert A. Williams has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-four; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Robert A. Williams was a widely admired member of the law enforcement community and the loving husband of Joan; and
WHEREAS, Robert A. Williams was the much-adored father of Robert, Ronald and Ricardo to whom he imparted many of the .fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Robert A. Williams enjoyed a long and highly successful career as a member of the Chicago Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Robert A. Williams joined the police force in 1952 and earned numerous awards during his distinguished tenure, including an honorable mention for exceptional bravery; and
WHEREAS, Robert A. Williams earned a bachelor's degree in urban problems from Roosevelt University and a master's degree in corrections from Chicago State University; and
WHEREAS, Following a long and illustrious career, Robert A. Williams retired in 1987 as the Deputy Superintendent of the Bureau of Investigative Services; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Robert A. Williams serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Robert A. Williams will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Robert A. Williams imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of September, 2013, do hereby commemorate Robert A. Williams for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roberj/A. Williams.
