RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Norman R. Bobins, a widely admired civic and business leader, is preparing to complete his distinguished tenure as a valued member of the Chicago Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Norman R. Bobins was appointed to the Chicago Board of Education in 1995 and served faithfully for sixteen years; and
WHEREAS, In addition to serving as the non-executive Chairman of The PrivateBank and Trust Company, Norman R. Bobins is the Chairman of Norman Bobins Consulting, LLC, which provides financial consulting services; and
WHEREAS, Norman R. Bobins served as a Trustee of the Public School Teachers' Pension and Retirement Fund of Chicago and was a member of the Public Building Commission of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Norman R. Bobins serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of WTTW Communications, Inc., and is a member of the Field Museum, the Newberry Library and the Brain Research Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Along with his fellow Board Members, Norman R. Bobins has worked diligently to ensure that Chicago's public schools provide all students with an excellent academic foundation and a safe learning environment; and
WHEREAS, Norman R. Bobins is an individual of integrity and achievement who is exceedingly worthy of our admiration and esteem; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled this fourth day of May, 2011, do hereby express our gratitude to Norman R. Bobins for his years of public service to the more than four-hundred-thousand students currently enrolled in Chicago's public schools; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Norman R. Bobins.
