RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING V ^
SAINT PATRICK HIGH SCHOOL ON IT'S 1 50th ANNIVARSARY ^
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the members of the City Council of the City of Chicago are hereby informed of Saint Patrick High School's 150th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Saint Patrick High School is one of Chicago's most complete service oriented private secondary school and the oldest catholic high school for boys. For 150 years it has remained at the forefront of education, ministering to the needs of young men in the Chicagoland area; and
WHEREAS, Saint Patrick High School was founded at Adams and Des Plaines in 1861, five years after Old St. Patrick's Church was established. Established by the Christian Brothers, St. Pat's is Illinois' first high school to implement mandatory drug-testing. St. Pat's has developed a reputation for instilling moral and academic excellence in students from all over the city and surrounding suburbs; and
WHEREAS, As society evolves, so too does Saint Patrick High School; the school's 150 years of excellence in education stands a testament to grounded principles while adapting to a city in flux. St. Pat's commercial courses, vocational training, and college prep education enabling students to earn up to 26 college credit hours have all been developed to meet the city's changing residential demographics; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of this auspicious occasion by the Honorable Timothy M. Cullerton, Alderman of the 38th Ward; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 8th day of June, 2011, A.D. do hereby express our gratitude and congratulations to Saint Patrick High School on it's 150th Anniversary.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Saint Patrick High School.
