MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Philip G. Roux, on August 16, 2014, at the age of sixty-seven ; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Born on December 23,1946, Philip was the beloved husband for forty-three years to Cheryl Roux, nee Bennigsen; loving father of Jason (Rachel Book), Renee (Chris Holman), Sean, and Neal Roux; proud grandfather of Austin and Easton; dear brother of Steve (Elaine) Roux; fondly cherished uncle and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Philip leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
 
WHEREAS, A devoted father and loving husband, he was the pillar of gentle kindness. Philip was truly a terrific person, who possessed such a dear heart that added much to the lives of everyone he knew. His presence, booming voice, jibes and bowling on Saturday nights will long be remembered; and
 
WHEREAS, Philip had been the Superintendent of Bohemian National Cemetery; and
 
WHEREAS, Philip will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence, generosity, compassion and spirit will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this tenth day of September, 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Philip G. Roux and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Philip G. Roux .
