MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Kathleen "Katie" Mulligan (nee O'Malley) born on March 5, 1915, was called by God to her eternal reward on December 9, 2012, at the age of 97 1/2; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, The dedicated wife of the late Andrew Mulligan; loving mother of Patricia (Charles) McNulty, James J. (Patricia) Mulligan, John (Cindy) Mulligan, Kathleen (Patrick) Cheeseman and Ann (Glenn) Aquino; beloved daughter of the late John O'Malley and the late Anne (nee Stranton); and devoted aunt, cousin, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother - four generations in the United States, Ireland and England, Katie Mulligan leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
 
WHEREAS, Katie Mulligan formerly of Killadon-Kinnadoohy, County Mayo, Ireland, was the finest woman from Mayo; and
 
WHEREAS, Katie Mulligan, an active and vital member of her community, was a faithful parishioner of Saint Sylvester's and Our Lady of Victory in Chicago; and
 
WHEREAS, Katie Mulligan will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this seventeenth day of January 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Kathleen "Katie" Mulligan and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kathleen "Katie" Mulligan.
