Tribute to McCaleb. Perkins, and Mosely Family Reunion

 

 

WHEREAS, A core part of the City of Chicago is family bonds that bring family members from across the United States to come and celebrate their family's history and lineage together; and

WHEREAS, Such a reunion will take place on July 15, 2016 when the McCaleb, Perkins, and Mosley families host their family reunion, brought together by the family matriarch, Daisy Cummings Harris; and

WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of this noteworthy occasion by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and

WHEREAS, The earliest records dating from 1880 indicate that the foundation of this family began in Lee County, Mississippi from the union of Henry and Emma Cummings; and

WHEREAS, Their union was blessed with five children, Maggie, John, Rutha, Pruddy, and Marshall Cummings were born; and

WHEREAS, Their son, Marshall Cummings, married Mary Ann Elizabeth McCaleb, together the couple had four children; Daisy Cumming Harris was the first child born to this union; and

WHEREAS, The family eventually moved to Kansas City, Kansas where they flourished, however, the family chose Chicago as a place to reunite and celebrate their family heritage; and

WHEREAS, Chicago is proud to be their host and unite this growing family from all across the United States; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twenty-second day of June, 2016, do hereby, do hereby congratulate and welcome members of the McCaleb, Perkins, and Mosely families on their reunion; and
