RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, on 3 August 2020, the City of Chicago lost a lifetime resident and beloved friend in the passing of Marilyn Weiss Saberman; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Andre Vasquez of the 40th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn was the loving daughter ofthe late Dorothy and Maurice Marx and Albert Weiss; and the beloved wife ofthe late Dr. Henry Saberman; and the loving stepmother of Dr. Jessica Saberman and Sandra Saberman; and the loving sister of James Weiss, Cary Marx, Reenie Marx, Wendy Marx, and the late Edward Weiss; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn was a lifelong resident of Chicago, and a dedicated Chicago sports fan and tailgater in any weather; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn led an extraordinary fifty-year career as a math teacher in Chicago schools; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn's passions took her above and beyond the duties of teaching, from Student Council to Academic Decathlon to the founding ofthe record-breaking Schurz High School blood drive; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn helped to nurture and support her fellow teachers, and stood with them on the picket line in times of strike; and
WHEREAS, we find it right and fitting to celebrate the life and achievements ofthis proud representative of our City and its schools, now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled here on this ninth day of September, 2020, do hereby express our sorrow on the loss of Marilyn Weiss Saberman and express to her friends and family our deepest condolences; and
