At your request, we have studied the intersection of Clark Street and Germania Place. You described vehicles parked on Clark Street, which impede emergency vehicles and make it difficult for drivers on Germania! to see |oncoming traffic. We recommend extending the existing parking restriction to 20 feet from the crosswalk and coordinating with the Police to enforce the No Parking zones. Th|e details of our analysis follow.
Germania Place is a one-block local street which jends in a tee intersection at Clark Street. A pedestrian refuge island in the north leg of Clark Street allows pedestrians to cross northbound and southbound traffic in two stages. Parking is prohibited in the immediate vicinity of Germania on both sides of Clark.
The existing "No Parking" signs are properly posted and in good condition. During a recent site visit, our staff observed vehicles parking in the No Parking zones. The No Parking zone on the west side of Clark, nor^th of Germania is approximately 15 feet long. As described in your letter, parked vehicle's in this zone make it difficult for eastbound drivers on Germania to see southbound traffic.
