MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned ofthe death of Laurence D. Nee, PhD, J.D., on August 5, 2013; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Born on January 28, 1970, Laurence was the beloved husband of Maura Jane Farrelly; loving son of Dudley Nee and Mary Margaret Grady Nee; dear brother of James Grady Nee, son-in-law of Gene and Kathleen Farrelly; brother-in-law of Gene, Megan and Cassie Farrelly; grandson of the late James and Marguerite Grady, Dudley and Mary Nee; and uncle, nephew, cousin and friend of many.
 
WHEREAS, As a professor of political philosophy at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico with Doctorates from the University of Dallas and Northwestern University, Laurence was highly respected and well-regarded in his academic career; and
 
WHEREAS, Laurence will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eleventh day of September 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Laurence D. Nee, and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Laurence D. Nee.
