RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Ms. Linda Anne Dougherty retired on May 10, 2017 from her position as Chair from the Southwest Home Equity Assurance Commission, located in Chicago's 13th Ward; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by the Honorable Marty Quinn, Alderman ofthe 13th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Linda Anne Dougherty has had a lifelong history of participation in the southwest side neighborhood organizations. Ms. Dougherty has served on various local neighborhood community group boards and committees. Ms. Dougherty has been a longtime participant in the "Clearing Night Force," a community watch group which patrols and identifies nefarious activities in the Clearing neighborhood, and

WHEREAS, Linda Anne Dougherty was appointed to the Southwest Home Equity Assurance Commission by full City of Chicago Council confirmation on September 13, 1995. Since then, Ms. Dougherty has attended regular commission meetings; participated in the governance of the Commission, and subsequently served as Chair until her resignation. During this time, the Commission has sponsored community walks, provided both low cost home improvement loans and relief from decline in the value of participating members' homes. In addition, an informational bulletin filled with homeowner information committed to the value of encouraging neighborhood prosperity has been regularly produced and popularly received by over fifty thousand households; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Dougherty was employed by the City of Chicago as a librarian for than 20 years working at the Scottsdale, Brighton Park and Clearing libraries. During her years at the Clearing library, Ms. Dougherty worked to successfully develop the branch from a storefront building to a city owned facility. Ms. Dougherty was appointed to the public arts committee which selected three artworks Clearing library; now therefore
