RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Jimmie R. Alford has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 69; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Jimmie R. Alford was the loving and devoted husband of Maree Bullock; and
WHEREAS, Jimmie R. Alford was the much-adored father of Ann, Sean, Alan and Joshua and the grandfather of Collin and Casey to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Jimmie R. Alford was the cherished brother of Larry and Betty; and
WHEREAS, The owner of his own consulting business, Jimmie R. Alford specialized in administration and fundraising for nonprofit organizations; and
WHEREAS, Jimmie R. Alford began his career working for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago and actively supported that group for the rest of his life; and
WHEREAS, Jimmie R. Alford received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Better Government Association for his pro bono work for that organization; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Jimmie R. Alford serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Jimmie R. Alford to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Jimmie R. Alford imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we. the Mayor and the members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of January, 2013, do hereby commemorate Jimmie R. Alford for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be presented to the family of Jimmie R. Alford.
