WHEREAS, Janice Ellis, an outstanding public servant and member of her community, retires as a Crossing Guard of the Chicago Police Department after twentieth-one years of dedicated service to the children of this city; and
WHEREAS, Janice served with dedication in the 006th District where she has been a valuable asset to the district and community she served. During her career she received one Democratic National Convention Award and one Attendance Recognition Award. She is saluted for her years of service and dedication; and
WHEREAS, The Crossing Guards have the very essential job of ensuring the safety of our children. Not only do they stand out in rain, sleet and snow; but these Crossing Guards have an important role in protecting the lives of our children; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Lona Lane, Alderman ofthe 18th Ward, has apprised this august body of Janice Ellis' significant milestone; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this tenth day of December, 2014 A.D., do hereby salute Janice Ellis for her many years of dedicated service to the safety of the children and extend our very best wishes for health, happiness, and success in all future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Janice Ellis.
