Resolution
WHEREAS, Victor Both has been a committed and valuable neighbor of Beverly Hills/Morgan Park for over 40 years, and of the City of Chicago for even longer, with a 33-year career as a city planner, a position from which he retired in 1993; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Matthew J. O'Shea, Alderman of the 39th Ward, has apprised this esteemed body of Mr. Both's admirable works and citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Victor Both has been a supporter ofthe Beverly Area Planning Association (BAPA) for many years, first as a member ofthe Community Support Circle and currently as a member ofthe Blackwelder Society. Victor contributes financially to BAPA, which helps with important programs in the areas of safety, housing, school initiatives, and economic development. He also is actively involved with BAPA as an advisor, helping staff to research and assess some of the group's projects; and
WHEREAS, Victor Both has taken an active role in preserving the history of his community, providing funding for BAPA's Historic Homes & Buildings brochure, as well as a permanent exhibit of Jack Simmerling's Village Vignettes in the BAPA Community Room, and he has contributed information on historical districts to be used in a new mobile app; and
WHEREAS, Victor Both is a dedicated member of his church, supports the Christ Hospital hospice program, and uses his giving to foster diversity in his community. Victor is a writer of collected poems and a gardener, whose Longwood Drive home beautifies the neighborhood; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this fifth day of November, 2014, do hereby express our gratitude for the giving spirit and the work of Victor Both in making Beverly Hills/Morgan Park a fantastic neighborhood in this great city; and
