MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Ruth Pershin, nee Davis, on October 1, 2013, at the age of ninety-two; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Ruth, born on August 5, 1921, was an active and vital member of her community. She was beloved wife of the late Marvin; loving mother of Ken (Alice Muncaster) Kapson, Lois (Jim) Walterscheidt and Vicki (Doug) Flahaven; cherished grandmother of Jake (Laurin) Vrona and Seana Flahaven; and dear sister of the late Sally Pershin. Ruth leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Ruth will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this thirteenth day of November 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Ruth Pershin and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ruth Pershin as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
