ORDINANCE


BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. Section 9-68-020 of the Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by deleting the language stricken through and by inserting the language underscored, as follows:

9-68-020 Residential parking permits.

(b) Upon the payment by the applicant ofthe permit fee hereinafter provided, the city clerk shall issue, or cause to be issued, a residential parking permit. Tho annual period for every such permit shall begin on July 1st and end on June 30th of the year following tho year of issuance. Any such residential parking permit shall be issued only in conjunction with, and for the same term as. a valid city wheel tax license emblem. A residential parking permit shall be valid upon its issuance and affixed as described above in paragraph (a). However, any permit purchased before July 1 for the annual period to begin July 1 will be considered valid as soon as it is purchased and affixed as described above in paragraph (a). The city clerk is authorized to provide a grace period, not exceeding 30 days, during times of heavy volume of applications, for all persons seeking to buy a residential parking permit. During any such grace period, the previously issued annual or one-day residential parking permits will continue to be valid.
