MEMORIAL RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF WILLIE MAE REED
WHEREAS, Willie Mae Reed, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on June 6, 2022; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Willie Mae's passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Willie Mae was born to the late Willie Head and Rosie Lee on February 2,1943; she was baptized at an early age and graduated with honors through all Mississippi State School systems; and
WHEREAS, In Mississippi, Willie Mae joined Mars Hill Baptist Church under pastor Clearance Stowers and she met Willie Johnson with whom she had a son Eddie Earl Johnson; and
WHEREAS, Willie Mae later met A. J. Reed of Clarksdale, Mississippi and they both moved to Chicago and had three children; and
WHEREAS, Willie Mae worked as a nurse and gained many certificates, she worked at Shack's Warehouse where she gifted kids and schools with toys and presents, she also worked for the Glenview Terrance Nursing Home where she took care of some of the greatest names in sports, including Ernie Banks; and
WHEREAS, Willie Mae enjoyed music, dancing, and family, she also helped organize group funding with the Chicago Born Losers Motorcycle Club and she was a community warrior for the 37th Ward under Alderman Emma Mitts; and
WHEREAS, Willie Mae was dedicated to her family, her eyes would light up when she saw her children smile and laugh, and she was a strong-willed, smart woman with a golden touch; and
WHEREAS, Willie Mae is preceded in death by her brothers Willie Washington Jr. and Nathan Washington, and she leaves to cherish her memories, her sisters; Rosetta Austin, Sally Reed Brooks, and Minnie Mitchell; brother, James Washington; five children; Eric Leon Reed, Eddie Earl Johnson, Michelle Denise Reed, Ernest Leon Reed, and Albert AJ Johnson; her grandchildren; and a host of nieces; cousins; and friends; and
WHEREAS, Willie Mae will be deeply missed by her family and friends, and her person...
