CONTRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO RUTH B. ADAMS ON HER 100™ BIRTHDAY
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the City Council of the City of Chicago is hereby informed of the observance of Mrs. Ruth B. Adams 100th Birthday; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman of the 34th Ward, has apprised this august body of the milestone observance of Mrs. Ruth B. Adam's centennial years; and
WHEREAS, On Saturday, August 26, 2017, family and friends will gather at the Royal Palace for a birthday luncheon in honor of Mrs. Ruth B. Adams, an outstanding citizen and member of her community, to celebrate her one hundredth birthday; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Ruth B. Adams was born on August 24, 1917 in Choctaw Bluff, Alabama. She migrated to Chicago, Illinois in 1954 with her daughter at her side. For several years, Ruth worked as a bookkeeper, and later was employed with the Chicago Public School System retiring after twenty years of dedicated service. Ruth has been a resident of her grateful 34th Ward community since 1966 and resided in the same home for forty-seven years; and
WHEREAS, Ruth, a civic minded, treasured and dutifully citizen, worked the elections as judge for more than twenty years. She is founding member of the 100th & Morgan Block club, and served as the benevolent correspondent. Ruth also is founding member of the 34th Ward Matured Seniors Organization which has been in existence for over 20 years. She was an active and vital woman who regularly attended senior meetings, participated in the Neighborhood Watch Program, Mayor Daley's Annual Senior Fest, Illinois Alliance Programs, Springfield's Rally for Senior Rights and the Senior Prom; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Ruth B. Adams was an active member in several senior groups, participates joyously
with the congregation at Mt. Eagle Baptist Church, where she has been a faithful member; and
