MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR LESLIE WOLFE
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the peaceful departure of Leslie Wolfe on October 26, 2016 at the age of sixty-nine; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Michele Smith, Alderman of the 43"< Ward; and
WHEREAS, Leslie was born on October 24,1947, growing up in Boulder, Colorado as the eldest of three sisters and the daughter of Lynn and Arlene Wolfe; and
WHEREAS, Leslie was born an artist, and after high school she moved to Edwardsville, Illinois to study art at Southern Illinois University. During this time she met fellow art student, Fred Gude, who went on to become her partner of many years; and
WHEREAS, Leslie and Fred moved to Chicago in 1977, where she began her Master of Fine Arts degree in fiber and fine art performance at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, In 1980, Leslie and Fred founded the Four Brothers Press, a renowned contract lithography studio on North Avenue. The Press successfully operated and produced some of the City's finest prints until Fred passed away in 1987 and Leslie closed the studio; and
WHEREAS, Leslie moved on to become the Associate Gallery Director at Roy Boyd Gallery, where she focused on cultivating relationships with artists and collectors for the next 12 years; and
WHEREAS, Along the way, Leslie met Bill Lackland, a master craftsman; the two were partners for over 25 years until her passing. The couple enjoyed art and riding their bikes everyday from their home in Rogers Park to Nookie's; and
WHEREAS, In 1998, Leslie began working with the Old Town Triangle Association (OTTA). She started working there as a part-time assistant, was promoted to Co-Administrator and was beloved by all for her work and dedication to OTTA for many years.
