RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Eric R. Lund has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 90; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A respected educator and journalist, Eric R. Lund was the loving husband of Grace and the late Florence; and
WHEREAS, Born in Chicago to Swedish immigrant parents, Eric R. Lund served his country in the United States Navy and graduated from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism; and
WHEREAS, Eric R. Lund began his career with the Evanston Review before joining the The Chicago Daily News where he rose to become Assistant Managing Editor; and
WHEREAS, In 1973 Eric R. Lund was presented with the Marshall Field Award for Outstanding Editorial Contribution to The Chicago Daily News; and
WHEREAS, Eric R. Lund served as a teacher at both the Medill School and North Park College and was Director of Columbia College's graduate journalism program from which he retired in 1994; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Eric R. Lund was a leading member of the Swedish community in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Eric R. Lund was a Past President of the Swedish-American History Society and contributed numerous articles to the Swedish-American Historical Quarterly; and
WHEREAS, Eric R. Lund was honored in 1976 with a bicentennial medal bestowed by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Eric R. Lund serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Eric R. Lund to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Eric R. Lund was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Eric R. Lund imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignit...
