"A THANKFUL PEOPLE SERVING A FAITHFUL GOD FOR 85 YEARS

WHEREAS, Mount Calvary Baptist Church was born on the second Sunday in September 9, 1923, being blessed and honored with Pastors who have embraced mission ministries and their vital role in ministering and serving the needs of "The Total Man"; and

WHEREAS, Over the past 85 years, Mount Calvary-has formed and reinstituted mission ministries that have been committed to comforting the sick, providing food, clothing, shelter and comfort to those who are in need. It teaches and brings people to Christ through witnessing and evangelizing as well as fostering an atmosphere of spiritual growth and social fellowship to all generations; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Tyrone Crider, Sr. was called as Interim Pastor of Mount Calvary in February 2003 and later in May 2003 was elected pastor. He embraces this role over a five generation church and reaches each generation with love and care along with having a passion for youth and children; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Crider had stated that it is a rewarding opportunity from God for him to serve a vibrant active community of faith as well as mentioning the diversity in ages combines experience with energy and wisdom with youth that enhances the ever growing membership at Mount Calvary Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Mount Calvary Baptist Church has shown love through their Christian service and today remains "The Little Church on the Alley" where God is given the glory, where spirit-filled souls are evident, and where everyone is someone. It is a citadel for worship, a tabernacle for personal devotion, a spiritual theater with a stage for drama of human destiny, and a church where you find heart and mind working together for that effective union of both God and man;

WHEREAS, The Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman of the 34th Ward has apprised this august body of this auspicious and the significant honor; ncv therefore
