MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Walter M. Carlson, on May 21, 2105, at the age of seventy-four; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS,, born on May 5,1941, Walter was the splendid spouse and handsome husband of Judith, nee DeVita; bravest buddy and proudest pops of Tim, Jill (David) Klusendorf, Kerry Carlson and Matthew (Tara) Carlson; greatest grumpy ever to Hannah, Conor, Noah, Henry, Lily, Violet and Max; beloved brother of Kathleen (the late Joseph) Provenzano and the late James (the late Barbara) Carlson and brother-in-law of Annette (Wayne) Rasmussen, Jan Beckford and the late Carole Kellogg; kind and gentle, kooky and goofy uncle to his many nieces and nephews; and fiercely, faithfully fun friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Wally was the best Son-of-a-Peter-Murphy anyone could ever know and will be missed mightily. He leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
 
WHEREAS, Walter retired from the Chicago Fire Department and as Trustee of the Chicago Pension and Annuity Fund; and
 
WHEREAS, Walter was an active and vital member of his community who touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, heart and spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this seventeenth day of June, 2015, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Walter M. Carlson and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Walter M. Carlson.
