RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Franklin D. Capitanini has been called to Heaven by Almighty God on the 28th day of April, 2018 at the age of 85; and
WHEREAS, Franklin D. Capitanini was the loving and devoted fiance of Donna Curry; and
WHEREAS, Franklin D. Capitanini was the cherished father of Gina Capitanini, Frank Capitanini, Lisa Capitanini, and Alfredo Capitanini; and
WHEREAS, Franklin D. Capitanini was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Franklin D. Capitanini was the second generation owner of the Italian Village Restaurants, Chicago's oldest Italian restaurants; and
WHEREAS, Franklin D. Capitanini worked with his sister Ave and brother Ray; and
WHEREAS, Franklin D. Capitanini was beloved by his employees for his caring and welcoming heart; and
WHEREAS, Franklin D. Capitanini loved to garden, growing five types of lettuce and tomatoes; and
WHEREAS, Franklin D. Capitanini served the vegetables that he harvested at the Italian Village Restaurants, thus making him a garden to table pioneer; and
WHEREAS, Franklin D. Capitanini was a good Catholic and never missed Sunday Mass; and
WHEREAS, Franklin D. Capitanini was an avid Chicago Cubs van and was able to attend a 2016 World Series game at Wrigley Field; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this 23rd day of May, 2018, do hereby honor the life and memory of Franklin D. Capitanini; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Franklin D. Capitanini as a sign of our sympathy and good wishes.
