SUBSTITUTE
ORDINANCE


BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:


SECTION 1. The following roadways shall be renamed, with a "North" or "South" designation as appropriate, as Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable Lake Shore Drive:
The controlled access highway portion of North Lake Shore Drive from West Hollywood Avenue to East Monroe Drive
South Lake Shore Drive from East Monroe Drive to East Roosevelt Drive
The controlled access highway portion of South Lake Shore Drive from East Roosevelt Drive to East 57th Drive
South Lake Shore Drive from East 57th Drive to East Hayes Drive

All portions of the roadway outside of that described here as controlled access highway, including any and all frontage roads as well as the lower level, will retain the name Lake Shore Drive.


SECTION 2. The Commissioner of the Department of Transportation (the "Commissioner") shall notify, in writing by certified or registered mail, the local election authorities and the post office serving the area affected by the name change, of such change in the street name authorized by this ordinance.


SECTION 3. The Commissioner is authorized and directed to perform, or cause to be performed, all such acts, including without limitation the placement of street name signs with the new street name, and to execute and deliver any and all agreements, documents, instruments or certificates as the Commissioner deems necessary, advisable, or appropriate, to effectuate this ordinance. All ofthe acts which are in conformity with the intent and purposes of this ordinance, whether heretofore or hereafter taken or done, shall be and the same are in all respects ratified, confirmed, authorized, and approved hereby in all respects.


SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in effect after its passage and publication. The change in the name ofthe roadways, as provided for in this ordinance, shall take effect ninety (90) days after the Commissioner provides the notices required by Section 2 of this ordinance....
