RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend Patrick Cecil has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 64; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, A native of Oak Park, the Reverend Patrick Cecil was the second of seven children of the late Frank and Jane; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend Patrick Cecil attended St. Mary of the Lake Seminary and was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago in 1978; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend Patrick Cecil was the Pastor of St. Mary of the Woods Parish in Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend Patrick Cecil previously served at St. Patrick's Parish in Wadsworth, St. Angela Parish in Chicago St. Zachary Parish in Des Plaines and St. Mary Parish in Buffalo Grove; and

 

WHEREAS, In addition to his many pastoral duties, the Reverend Patrick Cecil undertook mission trips to Piura, Peru for the past nine years where he said Mass, participated in building homes, delivered food and medical supplies and visited orphanages; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend Patrick Cecil partially funded a young lady from the orphanage in Piura through nursing school and was able to attend her graduation; and

 

WHEREAS, The holiness, sacrifice and dedication of The Reverend Patrick Cecil serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, To his brothers, Jim and Bill and his sisters, Janice and Diane, the Reverend Patrick Cecil imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fourteenth day of December, 2016, do hereby commemorate the Reverend Patrick Cecil for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Reverend Patrick Cecil-.
