WHEREAS, Doris B. Holleb is a distinguished and longtime Commissioner of the Chicago Plan Commission; and

WHEREAS, Doris B. Holleb has devoted countless hours to hearing testimony and reviewing plans for major redevelopment projects across the City of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, A member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, Doris B. Holleb began her esteemed tenure as a member of the Plan Commission in 1986; and

WHEREAS, Admired for her attention to detail and dedication to the growth and vitality of our City, Doris B. Holleb is an economist and a widely recognized urban planning expert; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Hunter College and Harvard University, Doris B. Holleb specialized in urban studies at the University of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Doris B. Holleb has served in three presidential appointments: as a member of the National Council on the Humanities; as Director of the Inter-American Foundation; and as a member of the President's Advisory Committee of the White House Conference on Balanced National Growth and Economic Development; and

WHEREAS, Doris B. Holleb has traveled extensively in Latin America, the Middle East, Asia and Europe; and

WHEREAS, Doris B. Holleb's books and articles have focused on housing, economic development, education, developing nations, poverty and metropolitan planning issues; and

WHEREAS, Doris B. Holleb is a member and past Vice Chairman of the editorial board of Illinois Issues and is a fellow of the National Phi Beta Kappa Society; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Doris B. Holleb serve as an example to all; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of March, 2014, do hereby express our appreciation to Doris B. Holleb for her many valued contributions to the City of Chicago and do hereby express our best wishes for her continuing involvement in civic affairs; and
