RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, David L. Harris, Jr., has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 42; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, David L. Harris, Jr., was a widely admired member of the law enforcement community and the loving husband of Sandra, nee Little; and
 
WHEREAS, David L. Harris, Jr., was the much-adored father of David and Caleb to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, David L. Harris, Jr., was the devoted son of Nora, nee Macon, and the late David Harris, Sr.; and
 
WHEREAS, David L. Harris, Jr., was the fond brother of Calvin, Katina and the late Terrance; and
 
WHEREAS, David L. Harris, Jr., ably served as a member of the Maywood Police Department for seven years and the Chicago Police Department for ten years; and
 
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, David L. Harris, Jr., upheld the finest and most noble tradition of the law enforcement community; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of David L. Harris, Jr., serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared David L. Harris, Jr., to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, David L. Harris, Jr., will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, David L. Harris, Jr., imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this second day of April, 2014, do hereby commemorate David L. Harris, Jr., for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David L. Harris, Jr.
