RESOLUTION HONORING DOCTOR JOSEPH E. NYRE
WHEREAS, Doctor Joseph E. Nyre has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Hope Institute for Children and Families since 2003; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure at The Hope Institute, Doctor Nyre has transformed both that organization and the way in which services are provided to children with cognitive disorders, particularly those with multiple disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Doctor Nyre expanded the programmatic offerings of The Hope Institute through the expansion of living, learning and health programs, the growth of The Autism Program of Illinois into the nation's largest statewide network for autism services and support, the creation of the Noll Medical Pavilion and the opening of The Hope Institute Learning Academy in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Doctor Nyre has worked diligently to expand services in Chicago by partnering with the Department of Family and Support Services, the Department of Aviation, Chicago Public Libraries and Chicago Public Schools to improve access, understanding and outreach; and
WHEREAS, The Hope Institute Learning Academy, at 1628 West Washington Boulevard on Chicago's West Side, is developing new models of responsible inclusion, helping better educate children of all learning styles and abilities; and
WHEREAS, through his many efforts, Doctor Nyre has touched the lives of many children and families from Chicago, to Cairo and improved the delivery of care for generations to come; and
WHEREAS, Doctor Nyre has realized his lifetime goal of becoming a university president and has accepted this honored position with lona College in New Rochelle, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman of the 2nd Ward, has apprised this august body of the significant accomplishments of Doctor Nyre; now therefore
