RESOLUTION

 

 

 

WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom has called Gary G. Hughes to his eternal reward; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Marty Quinn, Alderman of the 13th Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Gary G. Hughes grew up with his mother and two brothers in Cicero. He attended Morton High School and at age 18 enlisted in the Army. He served in Panama, Operation Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan. He rose to the rank of captain and was with the 416 Engineer Command with 30 years of military service. Shortly before his death, he was promoted to major. He joined the Chicago Police Department 19 years ago and most recently served in the Ogden (10th) District.

 

WHERAS, Gary G. Hughes is survived by his wife, Kimberly; children, Justin and Kaylee; mother, Joan (the late Edward) Hughes; brothers, Rick and Jeff; and nieces and nephews. Gary G. Hughes leaves a legacy of faith, dignity, compassion, dedication and love; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council gathered here this twenty-eighth day of March, 2018, hereby express our sorrow on the death of Gary G. Hughes and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy.
