; WHEREAS, On October 31, 2017, Police Officer Leonard Jarvis retired from the : ¦ Chicagp>Poiice Department following seventeen years of dedicated public service; and . v
¦ .WHEREAS, The Chicago City;CouncH:has : 1 Iono'rable Willie B. Cochran, Alderman of the 20lh Ward; and
WHEREAS, Police Officer Leonard Jarvis, Star #6637, retires as a valued member of the 7th District; and
WHERE AS, Dedication to and fulfillment of the motto of the Chicago Police -
, Department -"We Serve and Protect" - exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only
on.the: officers who must,daily. Cope with the stress and danger of being life's arbitrator for
countless citizens, but also on their family members; and -. . .
WHEREAS, Throughout a long and distinguished tenure, Officer Leonard Jarvis upheld
the finest traditions of law enforcement community and his hard work, commitment and
dedication to duty earned him the respect and. admiration of his colleagues and the communities
he protected; and \. :'¦
WHEREAS, Police Officer Leonard Jarvis devoted, seventeen years of his life in public service to the people of.the City of Chicago and in doing so has personally ensured that the City of Chicago is the safe, healthy and vibrant community it is today; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are. cognizant of the great debt -' -owed, our public servants, and extend our sincerest gratitude to the long and prolific career, of Police Officer Leonard Jarvis; now, therefore
