RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Richard Le Beau has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of ninety-five; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Palos Heights, Richard Le Beau was a proud military veteran and the loving husband for sixty-two years of Dorothy; and
WHEREAS, Richard Le Beau was the much-adored father of Michelle, Pam and Mary Rose and the grandfather of seven to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities which he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Known as "Dick" to his loved ones, Richard Le Beau bravely served his country as a sharpshooter and communications engineer with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Richard Le Beau fought on Guam and Iwo Jima, and witnessed the historic raising of the American flag on Mount Suribachi; and
WHEREAS, In 1986 Richard Le Beau helped to found the Palos Heights Veterans of Foreign War Post 7454, where he was a former Post Commander; and
WHEREAS, Though he remained a staunchly loyal, physically active military veteran throughout his adult life, Richard Le Beau was also a gentle man who was always full of laughter; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Richard Le Beau imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of June, 2011, do hereby commemorate Richard Le Beau for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Le Beau.
