RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Richard Karwovvski exemplifies the best human attributes of caring, helping, and looking out for his fellow human being and deserves recognition as a Good Neighbor in the 26 Ward; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Richard Karwowski's remarkable service to his neighbors by Alderman Roberto Maldonado; and
WHEREAS, born in Chicago on June 1, 1961, Richard started his life in a home his grandfather built until he felt the call to serve his country and proudly served in the Army for two years stationed overseas in Miesau, West Germany; and
WHEREAS, after returning to Chicago he married his high school sweetheart and worked hard to take good care of his growing family in the Humboldt Park community; and
WHEREAS, in 1987, Richard joined the Chicago Police Department serving in several districts and eventually becoming a Field Training Officer training hundreds of officers including the slain police hero Michael Ceriale; and
WHEREAS, Richard received numerous awards for his police woik keeping the streets safe from DUI offenders before retiring from the Chicago Police Department after 25 years of service; and
WHEREAS, even while devoting himself to his family and his career, Richard was always looking out for the well-being and safety of his neighbors in the Humboldt Park community; and
WHEREAS, Richard worked hard to help close a local liquor store infested with drug and gang problems and he regularly attends CAPS meetings speaking bravely on behalf of his neighbors to report gang activity and notorious drug houses; and
WHEREAS; Richard worked with the Park District to create a playground in the neighborhood and every year he organizes the Earth Day spring clean-up of the ponds in the park so that wildlife can safely return; and
WHEREAS, during the cold and snowy winter months, Richard keeps his neighbors safe by clearing their sidewalks and alleys with his snow blower and brings festive cheer by decorating his house...
