TRIBUTE TO THE LIFE OF MARILYN JACKSON
WHEREAS, In His Infinite Wisdom, Almighty God has granted Marilyn Jackson, an outstanding public servant and member of her community, eternal peace Wednesday September 9,2015;and
WHEREAS, This august body has been notified of the passing of this redoubtable and worthy woman by the Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman of the 8th Ward; and
WHEREAS, On October 6, 1935 in Chicago, Warezeller and Cleopus Ridgner became the proud parents of their daughter, Marilyn. She received her education from Doolittle Elementary School and Wendell Phillips High School. Marilyn accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the early age of twelve and participated joyously with the congregation at Friendly Temple Church of God in Christ where she remained a faithful member until she was united in Holy Matrimony and moved her membership; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn was a dedicated employee of Spiegel and Carson Pirie Scott, from where she retired after years of loyal service to the company. Marilyn, a devoted, charitable and vibrant woman who enjoyed all the duties she encountered as First Lady. She graciously provided meals for special events, organized Teas as Fundraisers and Clothing Drives throughout the year. She was a vital and active member of the Boosters for Christ, the Housewife's Club of the YWCA and the local Parent and Teacher's Organization; and
WHEREAS, In 1956 Marilyn and Thomas Jackson, Jr. were united in Holy Matrimony, and this union was blessed with four children. Marilyn, a licensed missionary and loving mother, instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of having a personal relationship with the Lord. She was a kind and loving spirit who brought joy and contentment to the people around her; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson will be deeply missed by all and especially by those who shared her warmth and compassion. The loving memories of cherished times will help sustain her family and friends through this difficult peri...
