RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Clare Munana is preparing to complete her distinguished tenure as Vice-President of the Chicago Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Clare Munana was appointed to the Chicago Board of Education in 1999 and served faithfully for nearly twelve years; and
WHEREAS, In 2004, her fellow Board Members elected Clare Munana as Vice-President of the Board of Education of the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Clare Munana has completed both domestic and international engagements for not-for-profit, public and private sector clients in the U.S., Europe, Africa and Latin America, and currently serves as President of Ancora Associates, a management consulting firm; and
WHEREAS, Clare Munana previously served as the Executive Director of a public sector financial management consulting group in Chicago, assisting Chicago government agencies in designing and implementing plans for significant financial and management improvements; and
WHEREAS, Clare Munana is active on several boards and civic organizations, including the Aspen Institute, the Chicago Public Education Fund, and the National Museum of Mexican Arts; and
WHEREAS, Along with her fellow Board Members, Clare Munana has worked diligently to ensure that Chicago's public schools provide all students with an excellent academic foundation and a safe learning environment; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled this fourth day of May, 2011, do hereby express our gratitude to Clare Munana for her years of public service to the more than four-hundred-thousand students currently enrolled in Chicago's public schools; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Clare Munana.
