RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, The Honorable D. Michael Collins has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 70; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable D. Michael Collins was the Mayor of Toledo, Ohio and the loving husband of Sandra Drabik; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable D. Michael Collins was the much-adored father of three children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable D. Michael Collins was elected Mayor in 2014 after ably serving since 2008 as a member of the Toledo City Council; and

WHEREAS, As Mayor the Honorable D. Michael Collins increased scrutiny of Toledo's drinking water supply after the City encountered problems stemming from an algae bloom; and

WHEREAS, A dedicated public servant, the Honorable D. Michael Collins previously served during his career as a police officer and union leader; and

WHEREAS, Proud of his Celtic roots, the Honorable D. Michael Collins was a distant relative of the Irish revolutionary Michael Collins; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable D. Michael Collins serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable D. Michael Collins to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable D. Michael Collins was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable D. Michael Collins imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
