CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO MR. GERY HALPER ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM PUBLIC SERVICE
WHEREAS, Mr. Gery Halper will retire from the Office of the City Clerk, on October 29, 2021, after 36 years of service; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this joyous occasion by the Honorable Anna M. Valencia, City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Halper is a proud native of the City of Chicago. He was born and raised in the Southwest side of Chicago; .and since .1975, resides in the Wrightwood neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Halper is the proud son of Mr. Phillip Halper and Mrs. Florence Halper, and brother to Ms. Sandra Halper; and
WHEREAS, He graduated from St. Justin Martyr Grammar School, and immediately attended St. Joseph High School. He graduated from DePaul University with a degree in accounting; and
Whereas, His journey began on October 16, 1985, as a contract employee with the City Clerk's Office, and was officially hired as full-time employee, on July 1, 1986. Prior to his career with the City Clerk's Office, he worked for Firemen's Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Halper's passion for travel is not a secret. He has visited 28 countries over the years. He is an avid lover of animals, and enjoys gardening in his free time; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Halper has been a great employee and possesses a wealth of knowledge about the Clerk's Office, and he will be deeply missed by everyone in the office; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this October 14, 2021, do hereby congratulate Mr. Gery Halper on his retirement from public service and do hereby extend our heartfelt thanks and best wishes in all his future endeavors; and
