RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Dora Lee Sipes Moore, a most beloved citizen, friend and towering figure in Chicago's great 8th community, has been called home by our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ; and

WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom chose, Tuesday, December 22, 2015, to bring His precious daughter, Dora Lee Sipes Moore to her heavenly reward; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman of the 8th Ward; and

WHEREAS, A precious flower was born in Jackson, Tennessee on the seventeenth day of January 1919 to the loving union of Luther and Eola Sipes, they named her Dora Lee. Dora was the fifth child of fifteen children who blessed this family; she shared a full childhood with her siblings and parents. She was a graduate of Merry High School; and

WHEREAS, Dora matured into a young lady with an abundance of grace, charm, patience and wisdom and she soon captured the heart of the man who was to become her husband, Jacob DeBerry Moore. They were united in marriage and were blessed with seven children: Beverly Jowan, Ronald Dmitri, Jacquelyn Eola, Millicent Rose, Sylvia Jerilyn, Jake Daniel (Denise) and Frank (Pearl). Dora, Jacob and their wonderful children blissfully shared years of happiness; and

WHEREAS, After all her children were grown and attending school, Dora resumed her education as one of the first participants in the Board of Education Manpower Program in the nation to become a nurse. She became a wonderful LPN and worked at Provident Hospital, and a nurse's assistant with the Chicago Board of Education; and

WHEREAS, Dora Lee Sipes Moore will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend who enriched the lives of all who knew her in countless ways. She had many close friends and was a lady of many names: Momma, Aunt Dora, DohDoh, Momma Moore, Mrs. Moore and Sister Moore; and
