RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Mary R. Kenney has officially announced her retirement as Executive Director of the Illinois Housing Development Authority, the state agency responsible for financing quality affordable housing across Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A longtime housing finance professional and affordable housing advocate, Mary R. Kenney was appointed Executive Director of the Authority in April 2011; and

WHEREAS, During her long and illustrious career, Mary R. Kenney ably served in the areas of affordable housing lending, community development and municipal finance; and

WHEREAS, Mary R. Kenney previously served the Authority in the late 1980s as a Portfolio Administrator in the Homeownership Department; and

WHEREAS, Mary R. Kenney left her position to earn her law degree from the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law; and

WHEREAS, During her hiatus from government service, Mary R. Kenney worked for a number of years at the law firm of Johnson & Bell before returning to the agency in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Mary R. Kenney was Chair of the Illinois Housing Task Force and the State's Affordable Housing Advisory Commission, and Co-Chair of the State's new Foreclosure Prevention and Mitigation Working Group; and

WHEREAS, Mary R. Kenney also served on the National Council of State Housing Agencies Board of Directors, Editorial Advisory Board of Affordable Housing Finance Magazine, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago's Community Investment Advisory Council and the Board of Directors for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Mary R. Kenney serve as an example to all; now, therefore
