RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Desiree L. Tate has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 62; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Desiree L. Tate was a prominent business and community leader who was a driving force behind bringing the Obama Presidential Center to Chicago; and
WHEREAS, An entrepreneur and a mentor to African-American professionals, Desiree L. Tate was a public relations consultant who worked for Mayor Harold Washington, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and President Obama; and
WHEREAS, Desiree L. Tate served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Tate & Associates and worked on projects for Lyft, the Illinois Medical District, and the Chicago Housing Authority; and
WHEREAS, Desiree L. Tate graduated from Indiana University and earned a master's degree in business administration from DePaul University; and
WHEREAS, Desiree L. Tate was an important civic leader in Chicago whose network of friends was without peer; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Desiree L. Tate serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Desiree L. Tate to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Desiree L. Tate was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her daughter, Ashley Tate-Gilmore, and her beloved family, Desiree L. Tate imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-seventh day of June, 2018, do hereby commemorate Desiree L. Tate for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
